spaniel drawing process

Springer Spaniel drawing, start to stop.

If you lot accept seen my springer spaniel portraits, or any of my other pet portrait work in my gallery, or whatever of my social media pages you may past request how I get nigh producing the piece of work and what'south involved?
Well, it can change from subject to subject really, depending on the customer's needs, and my own in some ways, as I will e'er make sure I discuss with the customer if I think the demands are out of achieve. But in most cases, I tin can piece of work with the client to reach a compromise.

Starting the cartoon.

So, the showtime step volition exist choosing the correct paper, and in this springer spaniel drawing, it was a darker, sienna coloured, acid free paper I chose after showing the client previous examples. In almost cases I will use a Prismacolor pencils, as these accept fantastic blending qualities and I'm able to go aver and over layering to create finer details.

The adjacent step in the portrait drawing will be mapping out the scale and outline of the portrait and making sure it'southward equally primal to the paper as possible.
Once I am happy with that I will movement on to the darkest shade of pencil, in this case it would have been the black. I discover this works the best for me and this medium. It will then be the next shade down, then moving on to the lighter shading areas of the spaniel.
At this point you can see it looks pretty sketchy and incomplete, maybe even very amateur looking! But wait, I'm not done nonetheless.
I volition then move on to totally become over it again with a solid white pencil, and blending all those previous colours into 1, and at this point I'm nigh starting again.
I will then become those colours blended even more than with a colourless blender, but if you are thinking practice I do this for ever subject area, I don't! I will approach every portrait in a slightly dissimilar fashion, but unremarkably the same concept. This volition usually be determined by the colour of the subject, this springer spaniel portrait had lots of white, that's why I did it in this style.
I exercise nevertheless have to be very careful in not getting whatsoever darker pigment on my blender when moving into the whiter areas, as this can push deep into the others.

Completing the drawing.

The adjacent stride will be to basically become over it all again, using the same steps, simply in contrary. I would and then start from the lightest to the darkest pencil. This is where the effectively detail comes into it, and this is when I really start to savor my cartoon, when I tin can see it taking shape. When I have gone through this stage and completed to the darkest colour, In this case I will create some highlights, For this particular portrait it was very important. The highlights were all in white acrylic paint, using Windsor and newton professional person acrylics, these paints are in a form of their own. I will starting time the highlights with a watered-down stage, to create lighter reflections, then thickening it up to give the intense white areas I need. Then voila! Its finished.
